In the region of Baster, Surguja, Mandla, and Betul, tribal terracotta forms a big part of community celebrations. These craft figures are shaped by hands or on the potter’s wheel.

Potters who practice this craft still use this relevant technique of making terracotta. Terracotta is specially created in Chhattisgarh, which represents rituals of tribal life and symbolizes their emotions.

3. Cotton Fabrics

Cotton Fabrics are among the most admired and stunning crafts made by the tribespeople from Chhattisgarh. They are made of Kosa thread that is made from a kind of worm that is found in forests that is hand-printed and woven by tribes who draw their lineage from the 14th century weaver, poet, and saint Kabir. 

The hand-printing is generally made using natural vegetable dyes extracted from Aal which occurs in Chhattisgarh forests. They include cotton saris known in the form of Chattisgarh Kosa Saree drapes, dresses, and drapes.
